About Covenant GSE
"In All Things Christ Preeminent"
Founded in 1955, Covenant College is a Christian liberal arts college that exists to explore and express the preeminence of Jesus Christ in all things.
A Biblical Understanding of Education
At Covenant College, we believe that our understanding of the world informs and impacts every aspect of our teaching. Our courses provide a biblical understanding of education which becomes the foundation of your profession as a teacher or administrator.
Our Hybrid Delivery Model
Beginning in the summer of 2021, Covenant will offer a hybrid delivery model for our M.Ed. and MAT programs, allowing you more flexibility as you complete your degree. Through the hybrid model, you will earn your degree with a combination of on-campus courses and online classes.
We will still offer our academically robust, biblically anchored, and cohort-designed programs, but this model will allow students to complete the M.Ed. in a shorter time frame. Additionally, MAT students can complete the program while working in another location.
The Master of Education program offers specializations in Educational Leadership or Integrated Curriculum and Instruction to educators around the world. In the summer, all students join us on our beautiful Lookout Mountain campus for the first three in-person courses. Then, students take one online course during the fall semester and two online courses in the spring semester. The following summer, students return to campus for three more courses, leaving only the capstone course to complete. This hybrid model allows students to complete the program in less than two years, but if students choose not to move at this faster pace, they can take courses as it fits their schedule.
The Master of Arts in Teaching program is an eleven-month, pedagogy-only, initial teaching certification program in multiple content areas. Students in the Chattanooga area can attend all of their classes on campus, but the hybrid option allows students with teaching jobs in other locations to enroll, taking their fall and spring semester evening classes online synchronistically with students on campus.
